It’s no secret that social isolation is a growing concern among people. Even before COVID-19, people were more likely to stay indoors, glued to their screens, than venture out and connect with others. When you hear about the issue, what kind of person do you picture? Most people would typically picture someone who’s nerdy, a bit awkward, and probably in high school or college. It is prevalent in young people, but social isolation affects people of all ages. it can be just as detrimental to older people as well, Social isolation can lead to depression, anxiety, and cognitive decline. It’s crucial to stay connected and engaged. At Still Waters, we understand just how important social connections are and offer adult day services to help reduce your isolation. Our adult daycare center provides a nurturing environment where seniors can connect with others, engage in meaningful activities, and foster lasting relationships. This supportive setting offers socialization and community building, mental and physical stimulation, and respite for caregivers, ultimately improving overall quality of life. Our adult day services can help by providing these essential elements, and we encourage families to support their loved ones by encouraging social interactions and visits, supporting participation in hobbies and activities, and considering adult day services for socialization and support. We also provide resources and support for caregivers, including a biweekly support group at Castleton United Methodist Church, educational events like our talk on managing dementia-related challenges, and health services like our vaccine clinic, which offers flu and COVID shots. By caring for both seniors and their caregivers, we promote a holistic approach to well-being and community building.
